I am not sure how I would feel about a third party program watching me surf. I think that marketing needs to start to take a backseat to some of the more pressing matters in the world. While I understand that advertisements are what keep television on the air, it is also causing a large number (and exponentially growing) of people to download/pirate television. The idea that it takes me an hour to watch 30 - 35 minutes worth of programming is just not that appealing.

I do not think that allowing companies to try to target advertise is going to be much of an advantage. I still gain most, if not all, of my interest in product based on word of mouth. And besides, I think that people have become somewhat immune to the advertisements. Hell, there are add ons for Firefox that target ads and replaces them with art.

All of this spewed, I think that the underlying technology that you are describing is very neat. I just cannot get behind the motive for which it is being developed.

Oh, and great site! Keep the ideas coming (mostly so I can shoot them down ;) ).
